Fort Travis Seashore Park History

This historic site was named in honor of Colonel William Barret Travis, a famous defender and hero of the Alamo. The fort played an important role in the defense of the United States during both World War I and World War II. During World War I, Fort Travis was used as a training facility for soldiers before they were sent overseas.
